Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Memories is a mobile application operated by Meadow Labs LLC (“Meadow Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Memories is a private daily journaling application that allows users to record short written memories, moods, tags, photos, voice recordings, places, prompt responses, and related information about their days.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Memories processes, where that information is stored, when information may be shared with third-party services, and the choices available to you.

Memories is designed to be local-first. We do not operate a remote journal-content database, require an account, serve advertising, or send your journal entries to third-party AI or language-model services.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Memories iOS application and the Memories website at memoriesjournal.com.

2. Information You Add to Memories

You may choose to add information to Memories, including:

• Journal entries and other written text
• Mood selections
• Tags and custom tags
• Responses to optional daily prompts
• Photos
• Voice recordings
• Locations or places
• Collections and Chapters
• Archive organization and preferences
• Other information you intentionally include in a memory

This information is referred to in this Policy as your Journal Content.

You decide what to include.

Memories does not require you to provide your name, email address, phone number, or other profile information to keep a journal.

3. How Journal Content Is Stored

Memories is designed as a local-first application.

Your Journal Content is stored on your device using Apple's local data-storage technologies.

When iCloud synchronization is enabled and available, your Journal Content may also synchronize through Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services so that your memories can be preserved and made available across supported devices associated with your Apple account.

Meadow Labs does not operate a separate remote journal-content server.

Journal entries, photos, voice recordings, moods, tags, prompt responses, and locations are not transmitted to a Meadow Labs journal database.

iCloud and CloudKit are operated by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.

4. Photos and Camera

Memories allows you to optionally attach photos to a memory.

If you choose a photo from your library, Memories receives only the photo or photos you select through Apple's photo-selection system.

If you choose to take a new photo, Memories may request access to your device camera.

Memories does not scan or upload your entire photo library.

Photos attached to memories are stored with your Journal Content on your device and, when iCloud synchronization is enabled and available, may synchronize through your private iCloud data.

You can remove an attached photo from a memory at any time.

5. Voice Recordings

Memories allows you to optionally create voice recordings.

The app requests microphone permission only when microphone access is needed.

Voice recordings are stored as part of your Journal Content on your device and, when iCloud synchronization is enabled and available, may synchronize through iCloud.

Meadow Labs does not operate a remote voice-recording or transcription service and does not send your recordings to third-party AI or speech-processing providers.

You may delete voice recordings from your memories.

6. Location and Place Information

Memories allows you to optionally attach a place to a memory.

Location is not required to use Memories.

When you intentionally use the Place feature, Memories may request permission to access your device location so it can identify your current location or nearby places.

Location information may include:

• Geographic coordinates
• City or locality
• Region
• Country
• Place name

Memories does not use location permission to continuously track you in the background.

Location information you choose to save becomes part of your Journal Content and may be synchronized through iCloud when synchronization is enabled.

Apple MapKit and related Apple location services may process location and search requests necessary to provide map and place functionality. Those services are governed by Apple's applicable terms and privacy policies.

You may revoke location permission through your device settings and may remove a saved location from a memory.

7. Biometric Authentication

Memories may allow you to protect the app using Face ID, Touch ID, or another device authentication method supported by Apple.

Biometric authentication is handled by Apple's LocalAuthentication system.

Memories does not receive or store your fingerprint, facial geometry, or other underlying biometric information.

The app receives only the authentication result necessary to determine whether access should be allowed.

8. Notifications

Memories may ask for permission to send notifications such as:

• Daily journaling reminders
• Weekly recap reminders
• On This Day reminders
• Other optional memory or pattern notifications

You can disable notifications at any time through Memories settings or your iOS notification settings.

Memories does not use notifications for third-party advertising.

Apple services may be used to deliver notifications or support iCloud synchronization.

9. Memories+ Purchases

Memories offers optional paid features through Memories+.

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit.

Meadow Labs does not directly receive or store your full payment card number or Apple account password.

Apple may provide purchase-related information necessary to operate and administer Memories+, such as:

• Product purchased
• Subscription or entitlement status
• Purchase or renewal status
• Transaction identifiers
• Cancellation or expiration status
• Aggregated sales and financial information

This information is used only to provide paid features, restore purchases, administer transactions, and operate the business.

Apple's handling of payment information is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policies.

10. Support and Communications

If you contact Meadow Labs for support, send feedback, or otherwise communicate with us, we may receive information you choose to provide, such as:

Your email address

The contents of your message

Screenshots or attachments you voluntarily include

Technical details you provide about an issue

Please avoid sending private journal entries or other sensitive Journal Content in support requests unless it is necessary and you intentionally choose to do so.

We may retain support communications as reasonably necessary to respond to you, maintain business records, resolve problems, and protect against abuse.

11. Website Information

The Memories website may be hosted by a third-party infrastructure provider.

When you visit memoriesjournal.com, the hosting provider may automatically process ordinary technical information needed to serve and secure the website, which can include:

• IP address
• Browser or device type
• Requested pages
• Request time
• Basic server logs
• Referring page where applicable

The Memories website does not use journal content.

We do not use third-party advertising trackers to create advertising profiles from your use of the Memories website.

If analytics, cookies, or other website technologies are added in the future in a way that changes our privacy practices, this Policy will be updated accordingly.

12. Analytics and Diagnostics

Memories does not include third-party advertising or behavioral analytics SDKs that upload your journal content.

We do not use your Journal Content for advertising.

Apple may provide Meadow Labs with App Store statistics, crash reports, performance information, or aggregated diagnostic information through Apple's developer services, depending on Apple's systems and your device privacy settings.

These Apple-provided reports do not give Meadow Labs access to the contents of your private journal.

13. Artificial Intelligence

Memories does not send your journal entries, photos, voice recordings, prompts, moods, tags, or other Journal Content to third-party artificial-intelligence or large-language-model providers for analysis, training, advertising, or profiling.

Memories does not use your journal to build an advertising profile.

If this practice ever materially changes, we will update this Privacy Policy before applying the new practice to Journal Content as required by applicable law.

14. How We Use Information

Information processed by Memories may be used to:

• Provide the Memories application
• Save and display your memories
• Organize your calendar, timeline, photos, places, Collections, Chapters, and archive
• Generate deterministic statistics and Patterns from information stored in your journal
• Provide weekly, monthly, and yearly recaps
• Synchronize Journal Content through iCloud where enabled
• Provide Memories+ features
• Process and restore purchases
• Respond to support requests
• Diagnose technical problems
• Maintain the reliability and security of Memories
• Comply with legal obligations
• Improve Memories without using private Journal Content for advertising

Patterns and statistics generated by Memories are intended to describe the information you recorded. They are not intended as medical, psychological, or mental-health assessments.

15. How We Share Information

We do not sell your Journal Content.

We do not rent your Journal Content.

We do not share your Journal Content with advertisers.

We do not use Journal Content for targeted advertising.

Information may be processed by third parties only where reasonably necessary to provide the services you choose to use, including:

Apple may process information through services such as:

• iCloud
• CloudKit
• App Store
• StoreKit
• MapKit
• Photos
• Location Services
• Push Notifications
• Device authentication
• App Store diagnostics and developer services

Apple's processing is governed by its own terms and privacy policies.

Website Infrastructure

Our website hosting provider may process technical information necessary to host, secure, and deliver memoriesjournal.com.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information actually in our possession if reasonably necessary to:

• Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
• Enforce our agreements
• Protect Meadow Labs, our users, or others from fraud, abuse, security threats, or unlawful activity
• Protect legal rights or safety

Because private Journal Content is not stored in a Meadow Labs remote journal database, we generally do not possess your private journal entries on our own servers.

Business Transfers

If Meadow Labs is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of business assets, business records actually held by Meadow Labs may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Private Journal Content held only on your device or in your private iCloud data is not part of a Meadow Labs journal database.

16. Data Retention and Deletion

Journal Content

Journal Content remains on your device until you delete it, remove application data, or otherwise manage that data through the app or your device.

Where Journal Content has synchronized through iCloud, Apple may retain synchronized data according to your Apple account, iCloud settings, and Apple's applicable policies.

You can delete individual memories and their attachments within Memories.

You can also manage Memories-related iCloud data through your Apple and iCloud settings where available.

Support Communications

Information you voluntarily send to Meadow Labs may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:

• Respond to your request
• Maintain business records
• Resolve disputes
• Prevent abuse
• Satisfy legal requirements

Purchases

Purchase and subscription records may be retained by Apple under Apple's policies and applicable legal requirements.

17. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You control whether Memories may access features such as:

• Photos
• Camera
• Microphone
• Location
• Notifications
• Biometric authentication

Permissions can be changed through your iOS settings.

Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights relating to personal information held by Meadow Labs, including rights to:

• Request access
• Request correction
• Request deletion
• Request a copy
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
• Because most Journal Content is stored locally or through your private iCloud data rather than in a Meadow
• Labs journal database, Meadow Labs may not be able to retrieve, export, modify, or delete that Journal

18. No Sale or Targeted Advertising

Meadow Labs does not sell personal information or Journal Content for money.

Memories does not share Journal Content for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.

Memories does not contain third-party advertising networks.

If our practices change in a way that creates rights under applicable state, federal, or international privacy laws, we will provide the notices and choices required by those laws.

19. Security

Memories uses Apple platform technologies and reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information.

The application is designed around local device storage, optional private iCloud synchronization, and device-level privacy controls.

Memories may also offer biometric app locking using Apple-provided authentication.

However, no device, application, network, storage system, or cloud service can be guaranteed to be completely secure or immune from data loss.

Users should maintain control of their Apple account and device credentials and may use Memories' export features to keep additional copies of information that is especially important to them.

20. Children's Privacy

Memories is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through a Meadow Labs account or journal server , and Memories does not require an account.

21. International Users

Memories may be available in countries outside the United States.

Apple services used by Memories may process information in accordance with Apple's international infrastructure and privacy practices.

Information you intentionally send directly to Meadow Labs, such as support emails, may be processed in the United States.

Your local privacy laws may provide additional rights.

22. Third-Party Services and Links

Memories and memoriesjournal.com may contain links to third-party websites, Apple services, or other external resources.

We are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of independent third-party services.

You should review their policies where appropriate.

23. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Memories changes or as legal requirements evolve.

If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the app, the website, or another reasonable method.

The date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was most recently updated.
